Hype Up - Nostalgix TCG by Chris Nielson

In an era with enough TCGs to explore, why should you look at the wildly successful Nostalgix that brought close to a million dollars on Kickstarter? Let's explore why you should have your eyes at least look in the direction of Nostalgix.

Hunter Angell, owner and creator of Nostalgix, created a game that borrowed some of the best parts of other TCGs such as Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Hearthstone, and Yugioh-and it does not feel like a Frankenstein-type game. Instead, the first base set of Nostalgix offers a lot of variety while allowing the game to expand more on the types of cards and archetypes.

The card phases and rules were straightforward, and the "Hearthstone" style resource system, the "engine" for you TCG nerds used to pay the cost of your cards, worked well. Although the game was simple, the card interactions from the first Nostalgix set allow for interactive and exciting gameplay. The PG artwork is fun and inviting for all ages, and play-on-word titles for cards to have a chuckle. Building a deck in Nostalgix is budget-friendly and only pricey if you want to get the max rarity of certain cards.

Harmonic Surge, Nostalgix's second set, hopes to continue its themes with new foiling, critters, and fighters to refresh the game and comes out the first week in June. So, there is plenty of time to learn the game, which our staff is willing to show you when you come by the store at Loot Kingdom before the drop of the second set.
